Going on a diet Empty
PostSubject: Going on a diet   Going on a diet I_icon_minitimeWed Nov 25, 2009 10:21 am

Lately i've been addicted to getting the most amount on kilometres for my $20.

Each week, $20 gets me from 150-200 kms a week, depending on my driving (which is fast and rough).

So this week, i'm going to drive as careful as i can to see if i can improve.

Ive also removed the rear seats, spare wheel (found out it was flat anyway Laughing )and car jack. Also removed all other things such as jump leads, CD's, rubbish, etc.

I've just came back from a drive in the wet and now there it's missing weight on the back end, it is now quite slidey (was bad enough with the wet).

I can already feel a massive difference in handling and acceleration has improved a little bit Very Happy Very Happy

Can't wait until next week to see the results!!!! Cool

Do you use your air conditioning?

Thats extra weight that could be removed

Dont forget the rear interior plastics, and the huge heavy plastic blocks that hold in the rear speakers, cable ties ftw lol

my stereo system weighs lots, are you into your tunes?

I think the best lightweight mods for the gen 5 are:

- remove the drivers side electric seat (can hardly pick up!) and passenger seat and replace with lightweight bucket seats

- carbon fibre bonnet

- carbon fibre hatch with plastic window

i was surprised how heavy they were, removing these is a must Shocked

i tell you what, i'm not surprised the mk5 celica is so heavy, every part is so much heavier compared to a honda civic.

then again, the civic isn't as good looking and doesn't have the luxeries like are mk5 celica

It's summer over here in NZ at the moment so unfortunatly i do use it.

Thats a good idea, my rear speakers don't work anyway, will do that tomorrow.

I love my tunes, my music is always on loud, my I.C.E on consists of a stereo, standard front speakers and 3 way speakers on the parcel shelf so not much weight there.

Seats are a good idea, i struggled to remove them from the car! Would love a carbon fibre bonnet and hatch but i don't have the $$$$ for that Sad Would be worth it though!!!!

So even with the car running like crap, you still averaged the same amount of km's?
